One of monopolized businesses of Ein-Bouk-Wa company in Arakan State, Burma
Dhaka, February 28, 2006: After having in disguised under a newly face, the Ein-Bouk-Wa company ---monopolizing in all business sections including rubber plantation fields, prawn production and rice dealing corporation in Arakan state - - have formed a new company named Golden Gate—that the sources said.
Accordingly the sources from Sittwe of Arakan state, Managing Directors of the Golden Gate company are Mr. Maung Htun Kyaw, a big boss of Trading Association of Arakan state and a closest friend of Western command commander Maj:Gen: Mr. Khin Maung Myint, and Mr. Than Shwe, owner of Shwe Thazun Hotel. Mr. Than Shwe is also famous person for his nick-name Sar Than Shwe it means Salt Than Shwe in English language. The most famous issue of Mr. Than Shwe is that he has been a good informer of Western Head Quarter command, and he had informed to MIS No.10 about the activities of Arakan Army.
The next one, who is a famous person is the son of Home Minister Maj:Gen: Mr. Maung Oo, is participating in this newly company as well as Mr. Tin Tin Maung of Kyauk-Pru town.
The sources said that this newly company, Golden Gate, has been producing Iodine Salt packages which weight is 750 gm per each package. It is sold 75 kyats per each Iodine salt package.
Furthermore, the Golden Gate has been taking monopolization upon all businesses of salt-terms and dealing concerned in Arakan state. All of the salt-term owners taking advanced money from the Golden Gate company, compulsorily have to sell the whole raw-salt to the Golden Gate company under the limited prices, 10 kyats per 1.5 kg or 1 vissa of Myanmar weight measurement system. These raw-salt are sold to the salt dealers by the Golden Gate under the rate of 39 kyats per each.
The price of ready-made salt or table-salt limited under the Golden Gate is 100 kyats per vissa or 1.5 kg that the sources said.
“We are under exploitation under the Golden Gate company and worry about the crisis of this business that although this business may lift up the interest of Ein-Bouk-Wa and Golden Gate, the salt-terms owners and customers are under pressure of the price of salt” that claimed by a salt-terms owner who recently reached to border area of Bangladesh with Arakan state.
