Subject:- TO HELP AND SPONSOR FOR INDEPENDENCE OF ARAKAN
Dear His/Her Excellencies,
With honours, let us remember back of conquest of British in the past. We were born between eight years short of ending and 18 years after withdrawal of reign of British from Burma and story of English was not known well.
However, meaning of the letters can be differentiated and studying the records of the Arakan history, we came to know that British is so sharp, talented and could institute a great Empire in the world. It is right but such an ability facilitated at abuses other peoples human rights.
As a result here, in this case process of Arakanese history is pointed out, on 24 February A.D. 1826, East India Company of English had taken over the Arakan, which was under the Burma and annexed in to British Empire. In this issued indeed, responsibility of the West India Company was to hand over Arakanese territory to the people of Arakan. But it did not stand to it's promise as said in the history.
As regarding this, the background is that movement during the period when Arakanese were taking an attempt for freedom of their Country because Burmese King U-WAING (BADONMIN) had occupied Arakan on 31st December A.D. 1784.

---------------- 2---------------
Meanwhile aggressive East India Company saw that situation as a golden opportunity and it's commissioner DE CEAN encouraged Arakanese prince HRWEE BAN and his associates fighting for re-occupying of Arakan, and then co-operated with them. The expense for the war (first Indo-Burma war) was called for and people of Arakan had to offer multi-million worth of silver and gold but coined by the East India Company. When it, however could control Arakan, it's Authorities denied to guarantee of Arakan Independence. (NOW AS SLORC has refused the result of 1990 election in Burma).
The prince and party, therefore, took an idea to continue struggle for liberation. But as SAN RA PHWEE group of 16-members disclosed, complained the secret plan to East India Company and Prince HRWEE BAN, Mayor AUNG KYAW ZAN and DEWAN AUNG GYOW HRWEE were arrested and carried them to Calcutta City.
Soon after they were accused of connection with french Colony PONDICHERY from where taking away of weapons at magistrate Maconley and it sentenced them to long term imprisonment, and after that they were send to Kalinkin prison in Dacca, Bangladesh (former India).
Later, they went on hunger strike in the Jail and the Prince passed away on 41 days of hunger strike in 1837. Before death he scripted a verse on the wall of his verse on the wall of his cell with blood from his hand. Similarly other leaders scripted their verse. Now these poems have alerted Arakan generations.
"Death in struggle for independence is more honourable and noble than 100 years alive in a colonial live"
Prince HRWEE BAN
As Arakanese were angry with East India Company who deceived for money employed people as serf, used the country as a place of sacrificing. There where rebelions in the parts of state, so that curfew had been often imposed.

In the mean time, in 1892 BO NGA TA group captured suddenly the police station for security in Mruk - U and a fleet of 7 double decker ships led by captain GODWIN arrived there and crushed it. On his return the goods of full of 7 ships were taken away to Calcutta of India.
Some of them comprised:-
i) Many Buddha immages made of bronze, silver and gold.
ii) A large number of copper sheets of roof of Mruk-U palace.
iii) A lot of cannons made of brass
iv) Bronze bells
Soon after those ancient articles were coined for India. But the two statues of Buddha were left because of being unable to be destroyed later those also had been handed over to Burmese without giving to real owner of people of Arakan. Now there is one at ZALWAN town in irrwaddy Division, another in BOTA HTAUNG area in Rangoon.
Again in 1948, the British Government left Burma for good having casted Arakan into so-called union of Burma, this action is against sympathy. Thus, Burma and Britain have caused trouble to Arakan a turn each and our country is going to rack and reign all around.
Now term of colonial life of Arakan have been for 210 years and scars of being oppressed in nation-wide which can be seen obviously since 1992 that we have been struggling for ending of our people colonial life. For it success, British Government is also responsible to help because Arakan was under the British Empire for one hundred and twenty two years. Hence we appeal seriously to approve our demands, they are:-
Conted ---------- 4 -----------------
i) To sponsor for freedom of Arakan.
ii) To contribute U.S. Dollar one hundred millions into our
independence fund.
iii) To aid first ten millions of it during 1995-97.
We believe that British Government with loving kindness will result to our endeavour.
Trusting yours
